A group of people in Turkey burned dollar bills, saying: ‘Protest continues until Commander in Chief Erdoğan tells us to end it’

Producers at Central Anatolia’s Aksaray livestock market burned dollar and euro bills in protest against Europe and the USA.

Breeders that gathered under the leadership of head of Aksaray exchange market Hamit Özkök reacted against the recent sanctions of Europe and USA on Turkey. Having hung a banner that read as ‘dollar and euro are invalid in our market’, producers stopped taking USD or Euro from customers. In their demonstration, they threw down the dollar bills and stepped on them before burning them.

Giving statements about the gathering, Özkök said: “They could not carry out the coup on July 15 with tanks, weapons, and F-16 planes; so, now, Europe and America want to realize the coup economically. So, in return, as Anatolian people, we are not going to use dollar and euro in our markets. We are determined to use Turkish currency and we are going to keep Turkey’s economy standing by producing and investing. We promise that, too. In this regard, efforts and support of the Turkish nation are so important. We say ‘no to dollar and euro’ until Commander in Chief Recep Tayyip Erdoğan tells us to end this protest.”

Producers also said: “We need neither their money nor anything else from them. We are going to do our own things. From now on, only Turkish lira is valid for us! We no long recognize dollar and euro.”
