CHP Chair Kılıçdaroğlu: ‘AKP and Erdoğan are messing around with people’s minds’
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, chair of Turkey’s main opposition party CHP, responded to Erdoğan and AKP officials’ recent calls to the people in Turkey to exchange their foreign currencies to Turkish lira in order to cope with current economic difficulties, especially with regards to the high increase of USD against Turkish lira.
Speaking at the ‘Great Meeting of Anatolia’ in Ankara over the weekend, Kılıçdaroğlu said: “If they exchanged the bribes they received, I tell you, the economic crisis would end! If they exchanged the dollars and euros that they stole, there would not be any problem with dollar in Turkey.”
‘You cannot change the regime by just raising up hands’
Also touching on the efforts of AKP, with the support of MHP, to introduce a constitutional change in Turkey that would bring about a change in the executive branch, Kılıçdaroğlu said: “They (AKP) think as if the regime would change when they just raise their hand. Our regime, meaning the Republic, was not founded just through raising hands. The borders of Anatolia and the Thrace were not drawn by some people. In every corner of this country, there is the pain, blood, and tears of our people; and, there are our martyrs and veterans. They left for us a country to live for! And, we are going to leave our children a country that will be livable. We promise!”

In his remarks where he responded to Erdoğan’s repeated calls to people of Turkey to ‘exchange their dollars’, Kılıçdaroğlu also said: “I ask our people to please raise your hand so we can see how many of you actually have dollars under the pillows. Have you (AKP) left any money in people’s pockets? People and their children are without a job! They (AKP) are messing around with people’s minds. If you are looking for someone to exchange their dollars, you should tell that to the person who had stacked dollars in those shoe boxes. Remember, he was telling on the phone ‘My son, have you exchanged the dollars?’...”
