Intelligence suggested Turkish ship was carrying drugs, says Greek port authority

Earlier on Monday, fire was opened at a Turkish freight ship by Greek coast guard in the Aegean Sea.

While the Turkish authorities condemned the act, the Greek coast guard had not commented on it.

According to latest reports of Steylo Berberakis from BBC Türkçe, Greek port authority recently stated that the Turkish ship M/V ACT was tried to be stopped by the Greek coast guard because of intelligence received about the ship carrying drugs.

The statement of the Greek authority also said the Turkish captain did not follow the warning of the Greek coast guard and began sailing towards the Turkey’s territorial waters. Fire was opened in accordance with the procedures in force, the Greek authority said.
