Istanbulites stranded as the city gets hit by a flood caused by heavy rainfall

Turkey’s İstanbul was hit by a thunder storm and heavy rainfall on early morning hours of Tuesday (July 18).

As roads and subway routes were blocked under flood, several people got stranded in their cars and on public transportation.

While ferry services and the Eurasia Tunnel were also canceled temporarily, the governor of the city made an announcement encouraging citizens to ‘avoid going out on private cars’, if possible.

Public transportation system, however, has also been impacted as several stations of the metro lines were flooded, as well.
