LATEST: Operation against executives of Cumhuriyet newspaper
Houses of Cumhuriyet newspaper’s chief editor Murat Sabuncu and columnists Güray Öz, Hikmet Çetinkaya, Akın Atalay, Orhan Erinç and Musa Kart were raided by police earlier this morning.
Warrant of arrest has been issued for 13 executive professionals of the newspsaper.
CHP MP Barış Yarkadaş gave information with regards to the operation against Cumhuriyet newspaper from his personal twitter account at 6:39 in the morning saying: ‘An operation against Cumhuriyat newspaper has been launched. Murat Sabuncu has been taken into custody. Houses of Güray Öz and Akın Atalay are being searched now!’
Known for its affinity with AKP, Sabah newspaper announced the news as ‘Operation against executives of Cumhuriyet newspaper has been started with the reason of their support to terrorist organizations FETÖ and PKK’.
