Major operation in Turkey’s police department: 9103 officers suspended
As a result of a major operation within Turkish police department, 9103 officers have been suspended from their positions.
2500 of the officers that have been suspended in scope of investigation into FETÖ and Parallel State Structure were on duty in İstanbul, while 350 were in Ankara, according to latest reports.
In the official statement of the General Directorate of Security, it is stated that the 9103 officers have been suspended ‘due to their ties or contacts with FETÖ/PDY.’
While a warrant of arrest had initially been issued against 3224 suspects within the police force, 448 of them were already in detention and 1120 of them were caught during the recent operation run across the county by participation of over 8 thousand police officers.
