Minister in Turkey targets the Justice March: ‘We don’t build roads for terrorists to walk on’

As provocations and attacks against the Justice March in Turkey continued, Minister of Customs and Trade also targeted the move of the opposition, which is being supported by millions in the country.

Speaking at an opening ceremony in Erzincan province earlier this week, Minister Tüfenkci said: “We build roads for the people; not for terrorists to walk... We walk not for saving the terrorists; we walk for saving the nation. And, we are going to continue walking, God willing...”

The Justice March was started on June 15 by the main opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in Ankara. Leaving behind its 16th day today (June 30), the march – which has been participated by thousands and supported by millions – will end in İstanbul’s Maltepe district, where CHP MP Enis Berberoğlu is held in detention.

Though the initial decision for the march was given following the detention of MP Berberoğlu, the march has turned into a massive movement supported by primarily the ‘no’ voters of the referendum, which make up the half of the nation.

It has become a frequently practiced habit for government authorities in Turkey - from all levels - to call anyone or any group with a voice and view different than theirs as 'terrorists.'
