State of emergency law has been in force in Turkey since July of last year following a failed coup attempt which the current government claims to have been carried out by its long time partner Fethullah Gülen's community.

Since last summer, a massive crackdown has involved hundreds of thousands of people from almost all fields, especially the security forces, judiciary, and the education ministry.
