Opponents of new constitution attacked in Turkey's Denizli

Referendum campaigns in Turkey continue across the country. While billboards of several parts of the major cities are filled with ‘yes’ propaganda for the proposed new constitution and numerous activities are held in many districts on a daily basis, campaigns of those who are against the government’s proposal have received obvious attacks at many sites.

Latest of such reports where a ‘no’ group was attacked while trying to run a campaign in a public spot came from Turkey’s Denizli district. Haziran Movement’s members were targeted by aggressors who attacked the group members with stones and knives, wounding one from his head and causing another to have a fractured bone in the arm.
Giving a public statement about the attack afterwards, Haziran board member Orhun Çoban said: “While the ‘yes’ voters face fascist practices in Holland, this government has declared every opponent as traitors and terrorists in its own country and created the ground for these kinds of attacks. The government has the biggest responsibility behind these attacks… If you talk about fascism, come and see it here. This is fascism!”
