PM Yıldırım: ‘We’ll bring the question on presidential system to the Parliament floor’

Talking at AKP’s Broadened Meeting of Provincial Heads Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım firstly asserted that the meeting ‘was going to be held in calmness for the sake of the years-long friendship of the party members’, then, touched on issues with regards to terror attacks; FETÖ operations; the opposition parties’ approached; relations with Israel and Russia; and, the plans of his party about the ‘presidential system.’

When mentioning the question on the presidential system, PM Yıldırım referred to the latest remarks of MHP Chair Devlet Bahçeli, where he said ‘MHP was to support any decision on the presidential system’, and extended his ‘thanks and appreciations.’ Yıldırım said: “The statement that he (Bahçeli) made yesterday is really giving hope. This is what we have been saying since the beginning. Turkey. Türkiye must turn the de facto into legal state. The need for a Constitution (amendment) has become really urgent. Assertions of Bahçeli are really encouraging. We are ready; we are going to take the steps on this path. The decision will be made either by the Parliament or the people. The decision of the people is the best decision! We are going to bring forth a new constitution to the Parliament soon!

A system change that would allow stability and sustainability of power is an undeniable need of Turkey. And, this would not be applied only for stability but also for the nation’s unity. Including the 60 items that have been agreed on so far, AKP is going to draft and prapare the proposal to submit to the Parliament. Whatever result would come out from the Parliament, we are going to take it to the public (in referendum). AKP is a party that hands down issues to its grandchildren.

Nobody can come in between us when it comes to our ties with our President; he is a founder of our party. And, he is in love with Turkey. Of course, wer are going to work with him in harmony as much as possible. Those who try to portray as us ‘having problems’ will get disappointed. Turkey is no longer a country that could be seperated!
