Police in Turkey's Diyarbakır attack union members protesting against dismissals

Police in Turkey’s southeastern province of Diyarbakır have attacked members of KESK (Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions) who had gathered in the city center to give a press statement against the massive dismissals of workers of public institutions in scope of the state of emergency.

As the online news portal Artı Gerçek has reported, the demonstrators started a sit-in when the police did not allow them to read their press statement.

Attacking the group during their sit-in, the police took around 20 people into custody violently and prevented journalists from taking images of the scene.
