President’s daughter Sümeyye E. Bayraktar: ‘Price of living in this country is now heavier’

Speaking at the opening of the Bursa branch of KADEM (Woman and Democracy Association), President Erdoğan’s daughter and KADEM’s Vice-President Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar said:“The price of living in this country is now heavier.”

Claiming that Turkey has gone through a very significant social transformation throughout the 14 years long rule of AKP, Bayraktar stated: “When compared with the year 2002, we see that the presence of women in many fields is much more effective. Presence of women in the business world has increased greatly. While the number of women executives in 2003 was 114,000, this number has reached, with a growth rate of 82 percent, up to 208,000 by the year 2016. Women’s entrepreneurship has increased at an unbelievable rate. And, attendance of women in higher education has gone up from 13 percent to 40 percent.”

‘July 15 is a milestone’

Also stating that Turkey has gone through a very important trial on July 15th, Sümeyya Erdoğan Bayraktar added the following remarks: “Turkey was faced with a fight of survival. We had a coup attempt against our independence. Of course, each of us have different stories from that night. May God never let us live such a night again! Fortunately, we have overcome this thing with our nation’s insight and courage. We have actually been reborn in this country. July 15 is a milestone for all of us and it is a new stage for our institutions. The price of living in this country is now heavier! Because we have martyrs who lost blood and we have veterans who have rights. Children who are left orphaned and women who are left widowed have pains. So, our work is now much more, and, our troubles are many. We are going to repair the hole that the traitors have opened. We are going to do things that will exalt our country and nation in all fields. We are all civil servants for that cause. The stand of our women on the night of July 15 is a source of honor for all of us. I applaud the courage of our women who stood up against the tanks. If a legend has been written on July 15, the heroes of that legend are our women. This honor belongs to our courageous women, as much as it belongs to our brave men.”
