Statement from Turkey’s Meclis (Parliament) TV about censorship on CHP: ‘It was a technical problem’

Media and Public Relations Directorate of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly released a written statement today (November 23) with regards to reports about a purposeful interruption of broadcast on official parliament TV while CHP group meeting was taking place.

The message, where the reports are claimed to be misleading since there was a technical problem at the time of the meeting, is as follows: “CHP representatives were also given information about the situation. Due to the works that were taking place in the big group hall and the studio management room of the TV channel, the technical problem were managed to be solved after the group meeting (of CHP) was finalized and the system was set back to normal. On the same day (Tuesday), the complete recording of the CHP group meeting was broadcast on playback while the General Assembly had a break at 19:20. Unlike the claims in news reports, there was no purposeful interruption on Grand National Assembly TV.”
