Statement of HDP on arrest of CHP MP: ‘Those giving these decisions will need justice one day'
Deputy parliamentary group leader of Turkey’s HDP, Filiz Kerestecioğlu, gave a statement on Wednesday (June 14) about the arrest of main opposition MP Enis Berberoğlu.
Saying ‘parliamentarians must not be tried under arrest’, Kerestecioğlu emphasized that ‘the decision is given to pressure the opposition’ in the country.
According to reports of DİHA, Kerestecioğlu said that ‘all of Turkey is already under custody or in detention’ and called on the officials to resume democratic politics as soon as possible.
Kerestecioğlu also reminded on their party members’ previous warnings about the lack of independence of the judiciary and added that ‘those who are acting like this today will one day need justice themselves.’
