Turkey’s Erdoğan compares his experience during coup to a story of Prophet Mohammed

Appearing on a national TV show a few days ahead of the referendum, Turkey’s president Erdoğan talked about current state of affairs in the country.

When mentioning how the coup plotters could not manage to catch him in the hotel in Dalaman on the night of July 15 last summer, Erdoğan compared the incident to Prophet Mohammed’s story where he is told to have been protected from intruders through a miracle.

Erdoğan said: “So, it turns out that they (coup plotters) had come to Dalaman and searched our plane. However, very interesting things happened there. They had gone in to the airplane and looked around. And, we were not aware of that. You know, when our dear prophet was in Hira Cave, they (enemies) came. But a spider had spun a web at the entrance of the cave and the polytheists said ‘there is nobody here’ and they left. Now, they (coup plotters) also come and searchedthe plane but left when they did not see anyone (in our plane).”
