Turkey’s Erdoğan says sanctions on Qatar are ‘neither humane nor Islamic’

Speaking at his party’s parliamentary group meeting on Tuesday (June 13), Turkey’s President Erdoğan gave a speech on a number of contemporary issues including the economy, revision plans for parliamentary bylaws, Qatar crisis, and more.

About the recent sanctions on Qatar, Erdoğan expressed concern and said: “Attempting to isolate the public of a country is neither humane nor Islamic.’ Claiming that Qatar is a country that portrayed the ‘most determined stand against DAESH along with Turkey’, Erdoğan continued: “Please, let’s not deceive each other. Portraying Qatar as if it is guilty has not benefit for the region. Those who embrace PYD and YPG are taking such wrong steps that they will not be able to pay the prices for these decisions...”

‘Gezi protestors are anti-environment and terrorists’

Using any opportunity to slam the Gezi protestors, Erdoğan said: “We have been planting millions of trees. But they (Gezi protestors and the main opposition) are anti-environment. Didn’t they scream when we transported about a dozen of trees from one place to another? They do not have a culture of tree transportation. They are unskillful. You see this in the west; they are able to transport huge trees... But these people (Gezi protestors) do not get it... Even if they celebrate their 4th year or the 40th year, they will get used to it. They do not walk on İstiklal street for our future; they walk hand in hand with the representatives of the terrorist organizations...
