On its 23rd day, the major Justice March of the opposition reached İstanbul, after the leader of the main opposition CHP and thousands of participants completed the over 400 kilometers long distance between the country’s capital Ankara and İstanbul by walking.
Crowds in İstanbul greet the marchers in excitement
The march which was launched by the main opposition chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in reaction to the arrest of CHP MP Enis Berberoğlu last month has quickly turned into a march voicing a broad range of groups from the opposition forces across the country.
A final public meeting will be held in Maltepe district of İstanbul on Sunday at 18:00. Millions are expected to attend the grand rally on Sunday, July 9th.
Participation is reported to be around 90K
As Kılıçdaroğlu and the marchers continued their march in İstanbul, crowds that had gathered on the side of the road greeted the thousands with joy and excitement.
According to information shared by security forces, around 90 thousand people marched today (July 7).
Along with a number of civil society institutions' representatives and members, BirGün's executive and editorial team members also joined the march as the border of İstanbul was passed.
