Turkey’s president Erdoğan: ‘Germany should be tried for harboring and supporting terror’

Speaking at an awards ceremony of Green Crescent today (March 3), Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave statements about Germany following the cancelled meeting of Turkey’s Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ in Germany’s city of Gaggenau.

Erdoğan said ‘Germany should be tried for harboring and supporting terror.’

Parts of his speech included the following remarks: “You see the latest situation with regards to Germany, no? They say it is because their some correspondent has been jailed. That’s not it! That person (journalist Deniz Yücel) hid in German consulate as PKK representative and as German spy for a month. And, when we had said he should be referred to us so we could try him, they (Germany’s officials) did not do it... Then, whatever happened, they let him and our judiciary has done its duty and arrested him. There are hundreds of terrorists in Germany now... My justice minister was supposed to hold an official meeting... But they (German officials) did not let our ministers of justice and economy to speak... They blocked me to speak... But Cemil Bıyık was able to speak from Kandil. They (German officials) need to be tried for harboring and supporting terror. We are going to put everything you have done out... There is no long the old Turkey. There is now a Turkey that stands on its own feet.”
