Union of Labor and Democracy Forces holds a meeting in İstanbul with the message of ‘peace’

Launched earlier in August this year with the purpose of standing against fascism, coups, and state of emergency, the Union of Labor and Democracy Forces held an outdoors public meeting on September 4th, in İstanbul’s Bakırköy district.

Messages of the meeting, written on banners in Turkish and Kurdish, were reflected in slogans and mottos of ‘peace now’; ‘no to death penalty’; ‘equality’; ‘solidarity’; ‘torture is a crime against humanity’; ‘long live peace’; ‘woman, life, freedom’; and ‘siblinghood’.

Demand for ending the military offensive over Syria was also made during the meeting, where the joint statement of the attending groups was read out by standing Spokesperson of the KESK (Confederation of Unions of Public Workers) Branches Platform Fadime Kavak.

People also danced to songs played in Kurdish, Turkish, Armenian, and Lazuri.
