Voice message by Turkey's Erdoğan sent through operators on July 15 causes reactions

On the night of July 15, a voice message from Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan commemorating the failed coup attempt was sent through phone operators Turkcell and Vodafone in Turkey.

When people tried making phone calls at around midnight yesterday (July 15), Erdoğan’s message was heard before the call could be made.

“As your president, I congratulate your July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. I wish God’s mercy on our martyrs and health for our veterans”, Erdoğan said in his messsage.

While many people expressed their reactions to it over the social media, opposition lawmakers also criticized it.

‘Making me listen to the voice of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan without my consent is an extortion of freedom of communication’, wrote CHP MP Barış Yarkadaş on his official twitter account.

MP Aykut Erdoğdu said: ‘Enough is enough! He comes up even on the phone. What is this on top of all insults? It’s such a nightmare!’
