On Sunday (May 28), Turkey’s President Erdoğan gave a speech at a meeting of the Ensar Foundation of Turkey, which is an institution widely remembered with its involvement in pedophilia.
Talking about a range of topics regarding AKP’s role in Turkey’s politics during the meeting held at the Haliç Convention Center of İstanbul, Erdoğan also praised the young people of Turkey who ‘got out to the streets on the night of July 15 coup attempt’ and said ‘the youth of Gezi protests were not on the streets that night.’
“The youth that some accused of being ‘useless’ came out that night and embarrassed those who claimed such things. But those who came out that night (July 15) were not the youth of the Gezi Park. We have to see that clearly! Those who came out that night were young people who love their homeland and nation; and, who headed out to the streets for the sake of their flag and Azaan (Islamic prayer)”.
Also giving flattering statements about the increase of number of İmam-Hatip schools (vocational schools with Islamic curriculum) and the addition of courses on Koran and Ottoman language to the curriculum as elective courses, Erdoğan implied these steps are not sufficient for AKP by saying: “We have been in power for 14 years but we still have problems in terms of social and cultural impact of our administration.”
Repeating on AKP’s vague goals for 2053 – the year marking the 600th anniversary of conquest of İstanbul -, Erdoğan called out to the youth and said the year 2053 is the ‘new red apple for AKP.’
