Aggressor in Turkey's Kayseri attacks CHP MP with a chopper

Main opposition party CHP’s Kayseri MP Çetin Arık was attacked by an aggressor today (April 6) as he was running a ‘no’ campaign for the referendum.

According to reports of Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü, the aggressor, who attacked MP Arık with a chopper, kept insulting CHP’s chair Kılıçdaroğlu while trying to harm Arık.

Party members and people around Arık managed to stop the aggressor and the police came to the site as other business owners around reported the attack. Aggressor was taken into custody and an investigation into the incident was started.

Giving a statement about it to ANKA about the incident, MP Arık said: “I was visiting the small businesses. We went into an acquarium seller and we greeted him. He cursed at us and insullted us. He said ‘I am going to slain you’ and took out a chopper from behind the counter. The public is exteremly tense. It is a sad situation.”
