Chief prosecutor in Turkey orders detention of 35 journalists over ByLock

Chief public prosecutor in İstanbul has launched an investigation against 35 journalists and ordered for them to be taken into custody over alleged usage of ByLock application, a smart-phone communication application claimed by authorities in Turkey as a tool that had been used by the followers of the alleged coup plotters.

Among the journalists who have most recently been taken into custody are our Web Editor Burak Ekici; former reporter from shut-down Zaman and Cihan Muhsin Pilgir; İHA’s intelligence director Ömer Faruk Aydemir; and, former news director of shut-down Samanyolu TV Cüneyt Seza Özkan.
