Message of Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Fidel Castro

Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on Cuba’s revolutionary leader Fidel Castro’s passing away, saying “The affection and love that was portrayed towards Fidel Castro by our people during his visit to İstanbul in 1996 for the Habitat meeting. We send our message of condolescenses to family and friends of Fidel Castro and the people of Cuba.”

Message of the Ministry read as: “The death of the legendary leader of the Cuban Revolution has been saddening. Having left significant marks in political history of the world and carried out rooted reforms in his country in various fields ranging from health to education and from arts to sciences, Fidel Castro has handed over values and ideals that will guide the youth of Cuba. He stood against global inequality and worked for the establishment of a world that provides more equality and solidarity. The statement of ‘a different world is possible’ actually reflects the common dream of billions of people today – regardless of their political stands – from Latin America to Asia, from Middle East to Africa. The affection and love that was portrayed towards Fidel Castro by our people during his visit to İstanbul in 1996 for the Habitat meeting. We send our message of condolescenses to family and friends of Fidel Castro and the people of Cuba.”
