NYT depicts members of Turkey's Erdoğan's security who beat up protestors in DC

New York Times published a report by Malachy Browne, Troy Griggs, Chris Cirillo, and Natalie Reneau on Friday (May 26) giving a further analysis of the video showing the violent attack of Turkey’s President Erdoğan’s bodyguards at a group of protestors in US capital Washington, DC.

The incident took place on May 16th, shortly after Erdoğan’s meeting with the US President Donald Trump at the White House. A video released by Voice of America revealed the brutal act of a number people – including members of Erdoğan’s security team - against the protestors, who were carrying YPG flags and banners that read ‘Free Demirtaş’ across the street near the Residency of Ambassador of Turkey.

In its report, NYT depicted the members of Erdoğan’s security team who were involved in the beating of the protestors.
On Thursday (May 25), foreign affairs committee of US Congress approved a resolution condemning the act of security detail of President Erdoğan and called on their prosecution. Turkey’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, on the other hand, denied the accusations.

Spokesperson of the Ministry, Hüseyin Müftüoğlu, said the ‘responsibility had lied with the security officers of US’ for not having been able to intervene effectively.
