Over 53K drivers in Turkey got fined under new license plate regulations

A statutory decree passed on 29 October 2016 by the Council of Ministers and the President in scope of the state of emergency law made certain changes in Turkey’s laws and regulations on traffic.

In enforcement of these changes, which included revision of rules on license plates and registration of automobiles, a total of 53110 drivers have been fined in 7 months.

6282 cars with unqualified tags were withdrawn from traffic.

According to new regulations, drivers using license plates not found appropriate under the new standards get a fine of 427 TL, while the cost of the fine for using fake plates or plates belonging to another car is over 5000 TL.

Those found to be producing fake licenses, on the other hand, had to pay 10383 TL.
