Printing t-shirts with pictures of dismissed educators Gülmen and Özakça banned in Turkey's capital

Following the recent city-wide ban issued by Ankara’s governor’s office on ‘singing and lighting fires outside after the sunset’, another prohibition that reminds of the martial law days of the past came from the capital’s police department.

Earlier last week, a social studies teacher from Turkey, Acun Karadağ, shared a message from his twitter account announcing that people who would like to have a t-shirt with the pictures of Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça printed on it could contact Gür Özalit in Ankara’s downtown Kızılay.

On Monday morning (May 29), Karadağ posted a message on twitter again, stating that the police department has sent a written notice to the Gür Özalit firm ‘banning printing of t-shirts with picture of Gülmen and Özakça.’
