Thousands united in campaing against 'pro-Erdoğan' media: #KapatGitsin

In the snap election agenda, mainstream media in Turkey which has close ties to the AKP, is being protested today by thousands of people. #KapatGitsin (Shut it down) campaign organised by HAZIRAN, urges people to close their television, since almost every TV channel broadcasting in Turkey is applying censorship towards opposition candidates and their campaign towards presidential elections. Mainstream media is critisized by opposition and public for promoting President Erdoğan and his party AKP in the elections atmosphere, while giving almost no space for opposition candidates.

After the call of HAZIRAN, almost 40 thousand people used the tag #KapatGitsin, and its now leading the Turkey's trend topic list on Twitter.

People who are joining #KapatGitsin campaign and closing their televisions, gathered in parks all around Turkey and protesting pro-government media channels.

Campaign is also widely supported by politicians, academics and NGO's.
