Turkey’s main opposition chair starts off 18th day of Justice March with a message on Sivas Massacre
On the 18th day of the major Justice March in Turkey, chair of the main opposition CHP, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, started off the day with a message on Sivas Massacre.
Commemorating the victims of the country’s one of the most horrific massacres, Kılıçdaroğlu said the search for justice on this tragedy also ‘still continues.’
‘The case of Sivas Massacre is also one of the essential cases indicating how meaningful and important our Justice March is’, Kılıçdaroğlu said and added: “We want a state in justice and a society living in justice. We want a kind of an order where justice is dominant and where each of us is able to speak as we wish and not get jailed for expressing our thoughts. So, I hope that those ruling the country now will give an ear to our Justice March. They should not accuse us; they should listento us. We are the people of this country!”
The march which was launched by the main opposition leader last month has grown into a massive demonstration of almost all opposition forces in the country although the decision to hold such march was given in reaction to the arrest of CHP MP Enis Berberoğlu.
The court decision convicting MP Berberoğlu was seen by the main opposition leader as ‘the final straw’ after countless injustices inflicted on a great number of people in the country, especially throughout the last year since the decleration of state of emergency after a failed coup attempt; and, he vowed to hold an over 400 kilometers long march from Ankara to İstanbul without carrying anything with a symbol of any party or organization, rather holding only a flag saying ‘justice.’
The Justice March has by now been supported by millions and tens of thousands have physically joined the march at certain times and places.
