Turkey’s PM: ‘We are going to establish a presidential system with support of MHP’

Speaking at a public meeting in Trabzon today (November 11), Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım talked about issues on counterterrorism activities of the state, AKP’s accomplishments, coup attempt and its aftermath, and, the latest operation on HDP, as well as, CHP’s statement against the operations.

Referring to the statement of CHP where ‘AKP was deemed as the real cause of the coup attempt and the biggest threat to Turkey’, PM Yıldırım said: “You don’t know what you are talking about. Who is the party that has struggled against terror of all sorts? It’s the AKP… And, the nation knows who actually wants to be the lawyers and judges for the case of those terrorists…”

Yıldırım also talked about the detention of HDP co-chairs and MPs: “If the court calls you, you should come and testify. Have you come and testified? No! Have you learned your lesson? You should! This is a State of law: it is the Republic of Turkey. Terrorists cannot have authority here; the nation can...”

Pointing out excitedly the plans to enact presidential system in Turkey, PM Yıldırım said: “God willing, we are going to amend the Constitutions with MHP (Nationalist Movement Party); we are going to bring about the presidential system together. First, we’ll bring it to Parliament floor but it is not enough. We’ll then take it to the real owner: to you, the people…”
