Erdoğan's Nazi comments are unacceptable, say Hollande and Merkel

France’s President François Hollande and Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel gave a joint press statement on Thursday (March 16) condemning the behavior of Turkey’s politicians over the ban on referendum rallies in Europe in support of Turkish president Erdoğan. Hollande and Merkel said Erdoğan’s using of the term ‘Nazi’ to criticize European countries and leaders was ‘unacceptable’.

French leader Hollande said his country was in solidarity with Germany and other countries that have targeted in similar verbal attacks.

So long local laws are abided by, Turkey’s parliamentarians and officials can hold their activities in Europe for Turkey’s upcoming referendum, said both leaders.
