Fire at Silivri prison of Turkey

A 22 year old inmate, Burak Eroğlu, serving jail time for ‘stealing, damaging property, and plundering’ put the section he was in on fire at Silivri prison of Turkey at early afternoon hours today (November 29), according to the report of the prosecutor. While the guards interfered in immediately, Eroğlu got wounded during the incident and taken to the hospital.

Fire crew and ambulances were sent to the scene where the inmate and two prison guards were impacted from the smoke and taken to Silivri State Hospital immediately. While the guards returned to their duty shortly after their health examination, treatment of the inmate Eroğlu, who started the fire, continues.

Because of the significance of the Silivri prison, special security units were also sent to the area.
