Jailed co-chair of Turkey’s HDP sues Erdoğan for calling him a terrorist

Jailed co-chair of Turkey’s opposition party HDP (People’s Democratic Party), Selahattin Demirtaş, has filed a lawsuit against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan over his statements delivered during a press conference held after the G20 Summit in Hamburg this summer.

Erdoğan had called Demirtaş, as well as, other jailed former co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ, terrorists. Both Demirtaş and Yüksekdağ had responded to Erdoğan’s accusations by saying ‘back to you’.

In a recent suit filed by lawyers of Demirtaş against Erdoğan, the jailed co-chair Demirtaş demanded 60K TL as compensation for damages.
