Turkey’s former president denies assertions on his past visits to Gülen

Turkey’s former president Abdullah Gül has denied the assertions of the alleged mastermind of coup attempt – Fethullah Gülen – about his previous visit to the exiled Islamic cleric’s mansion in Pennsylvania, USA.

In an interview with NPR, Gülen said ’50 lawmakers, as well as, former president Abdullah Gül and former FM Ahmet Davutoğlu had visited him’ in Pennsylvania in the past.

Reaction from Gül came quickly, as messages were posted on his official Tweeter account on Wednesday (July 11).

Gül said in his statements: “During my terms as the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and the President, I absolutely had not had any contact with the leader of an organization for which I have never in my life felt any closeness in terms of my mentality of religion and politics.”
