AKP MPs protest Erdoğan's body guards at Turkey's parliament

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has resumed membership to his party and become the chair of AKP again as constitutional amendments approved in the referendum allowed him to do so, will be attending his party’s parliamentary group meeting for the first time in years today (May 30).

Before Erdoğan came to the Parliament building, his body guards entered the AKP’s room and asked the MPs to leave the room.

As AKP MPs refused to leave, saying 'we are the representatives', an AKP member announce from the platform that the MPs needed to ‘abide by the guards’ request and get out of the room briefly’.

In reaction, the AKP MPs in the room protested the command by applauding.
