Call made from an AKP municipality car in İstanbul, Turkey: ‘We must choose our caliph’
A group of reactionaries gathered in İstanbul’s Üsküdar district to hold a meeting ‘to show support for Aleppo.’
A vehicle officially belonging to the district municipality of Üsküdar – which is under AKP authority - was used in the meeting to make calls to the crowd.
In the announcement made from this car’s speakers, the man speaking said: “We must re-establish the Islamic unity as soon as possible and choose our caliph.”
CHP İstanbul MP Aykut Erdoğdu shared on his twitter account the below video, where the announcement made from public vehicle is clearly heard; and, said: “This call is in violation of the Constitution.”
Following statements were made in public in the announcement: “To get out of these bloody days that are gone through in Egypt, Iraq, and Syria, we must re-establish the Islamic unity as soon as possible and choose our caliph… You, the faithful ones: get a shake and do not get separated! Hang on tight all together to the rope of Allah. Unless you bring into action Allah’s commands, the cruelty, blood, invasions, and tears will never be out of the Islamic world. Salvation depends only on the path of Koran and the Prophet…”
