Engineer detained in connection to ‘Fuat Avni’ reported to have committed suicide in jail
Having been detained in scope of FETÖ operations with accusations on leaking information to the operator(s) of the Twitter account of a mysterious whistleblower using the name Fuat Avni, engineer Burak Açıkalın is reported to have committed suicide in jail.
Açıkalın, who used to work at Turkey’s Directorate of Intelligence prior to his interrogation in connection to FETÖ, was also accused of having leaked the list of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization which included the names of 20,000 people related to the Fethullan Gülen community.
According to the reports of Fevzi Çakır of HaberTürk newspaper, engineer Açıkalın was taken into custody on the night of the coup attempt, near the HQs of Directorate of Intelligence in Ankara.
