German lawmakers release joint statement in support of Justice March in Turkey

In a joint statement released recently this week, German parliamentarians Dr. Dorothee Schiegel, Barbel Kofler, Michelle Müntefering, and Frank Schwabe expressed their support for the Justice March in Turkey launched by the main opposition leader.

MPs said in their statement: ‘We greet the Justice March with respect and extend our support. Conviction of Enis Berberoğlu proves this: the Turkish Justice System which gets its name from the concept of justice has now lost its right to bear this name’.

According to reports of Süheyla Kaplan from BirGün, German MPs said in their statement that the march ‘symbolized the democracy forces in Turkey which casted a ‘no’ vote – nearly 50% of the turnout - in the April 16 referendum’.

Wishing for the march to give further strength to the democracy forces in the country, MPs Schiegel, Kofler, Müntefering, and Schwabe also extended a message of respect to both CHP chair Kılıçdaroğlu and all participants of the march for their ‘courage in the face of oppression and threats of the government’.
