Head of elections board was 'too agitated', says CHP member after their meeting
Deputy chair and head of the elections coordination branch of Turkey’s main opposition party CHP, Erdal Aksünger, visited the Supreme Board of Elections (YSK), along with a group of CHP representatives, to pose their questions to the head of the YSK, Sadi Güven, with regards to the unlawful decision of the board to count unstamped ballots as valid and about other irregularities reported during the referendum polling on Sunday (April 16).
According to reports of İklim Öngel from Cumhuriyet newspaper of Turkey, Aksünger gave information after the meeting, stating the head of YSK ‘could not answer any of their questions clearly and reasonably.’
Aksünger said: “They have got the defense mechanism at place but they were not able to give clear answers. Their base for refusal is so weak. There were very agitated. It was so obvious that they were on pins and needles.”
Güven told CHP members he 'could not comment on the issue as it would stand as stating opinion.'
CHP, HDP, ÖDP, and a number of MHP members have openly called on the YSK to annul the results in the face of rigged results.
Citizens also began submitting their individual letters of objection to the YSK.
Head of YSK, Güven, is expected to give a statement about the objections today (April 19). According to the current law, ballot papers and envelopes that are unstamped by the official stamp of YSK must be voided.
