Human rights activists in Turkey demand perpetrators of Roboski massacre to be brought to justice

Human Rights Association (İHD) of Turkey released press statements in İstanbul and Ankara about the Roboski massacre that left 34 people dead back in 2011 as a result of the air strikes of Turkey’s armed forces in southeast province of Şırnak.

According to reports of DİHA, giving the statement at Galatasaray Square of İstanbul’s Taksim on behalf of İHD, member of the association’s justice committee Mukaddes Şamiloğlu said: ‘Justice means equality, freedom, and peace! If justice among the members of the society (in Turkey) had been deepened earlier, the children of Roboski would have been living today. A parliamentary committee for investigation of truth has to be created in order for massacres in Turkey to be brought to light and peace among the members of the society to be built…’

In Ankara, the statement was delivered by representative from Justice Initiative for Roboski, Tanju Gündüzay, at Konur street of Kızılay Square. Gündüzay said: ‘Unless all political and martial decision makers who are responsible for the Roboski massacre are punished, no facing up with the past and the coups will be credible...’
