Message about Justice March from wife of Turkey's killed human rights lawyer

Türkan Elçi, wife of Turkey’s killed human rights lawyer and former head of Turkey’s Diyarbakır Bar Association, Tahir Elçi, shared a message from her personal twitter account about the Justice March launched by chair of Turkey’s main opposition party CHP, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Sharing a photograph of her husband’s grave, Elçi wrote in her message: ‘Justice has been buried in the ground along with the murdered ones. Those who were killed cannot come back but justice can be brought back. Justice!’

Turkey’s prominent Kurdish lawyer of human rights, Tahir Elçi, was shot dead on 28 November 2015 while giving a press statement at a town square in Diyarbakır’s Sur.

Elçi was shot in the head in an armed fight between police and unidentified gunmen who fired their arms around the square where Elçi was giving a statement calling for the end of the violence between the state of Turkey and the Kurdish insurgency PKK.
