Our hope is that Iraq will complete the operation in Sinjar: Erdoğan

Iraq might have partially intervened in the country's Sinjar district, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said on March 26 ahead of his trip to Bulgaria's Varna for a summit with the European Union leaders.

According to Hürriyet Daily News, "An Iraqi envoy will be paying a visit to Turkey [on March 26] to meet with our [National Intelligence Organization] chief," Erdoğan added .

"Our hope is that Iraq will complete the operation there thoroughly. If not, let's do our bilateral meetings and we will do what is necessary in Sinjar. We don't have much tolerance for Sinjar," the president added.

Iraqi troops deployed in Sinjar: Iraqi army spokesperson

Iraqi troops were deployed in the Sinjar district, where the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) retreated on March 24, state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing an army spokesperson.

Brigadier General Yahya Rasool, Iraqi military spokesperson said late on March 26 that the Iraqi troops were deployed to Sinjar district, where the PKK had retreated.

He said the 15th brigade of the army were deployed with heavy weapons in the Sinjar district and the Sinun town.
