With a written announcement released from its official website, the Turkish National Police stated that 12,801 of its staff members - including those in executive positions - have been suspended in relation to investigations and operations on FETÖ/PDY

Over 12K staff members suspended at Turkish National Police

As the decision of the Council of Ministers to extend OHAL (state of emergency) for 3 more months was announced yesterday, investigations and operations with regards to FETÖ are expected to continue.

Meanwhile, it has also recently been announced at the official website of the Turkish national police force that 12,801 staff members – 2523 of whom are in management positions – have been suspended throughout these operations.

Message of the police force, which is dated as 4 October 2016, is as the following: “In reference to the statements of the 2nd article of the statutory decree 667 – ‘statutory decree with regards to precautions taken in scope of state of emergency’ – where FETÖ/PDY has been indicated as a threat to national security, 12,801 staff members (at national police force) – among whom 2523 are in executive positions – have been suspended from their positions based on evaluations with regards to their contact or connection to FETÖ/PDY."

According to further reports, operations and suspensions took place in all 81 provinces and 1350 staff members at police force have been suspended in Ankara; 570 in İzmir; 650 in Diyarbakır; 203 in Konya; 267 in Bursa; 27 in Nevşehir; 31 in Trabzon; 95 in Van; 78 in Aksaray; 116 in Kayseri; and 350 in Hakkari.
