PYD: ‘If Turkey moves forward under Operation Euphrates Shield, there will be clashes in the region’
Leader of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) Salih Muslim Muhammed said in an interview with BBC Türkçe that ‘YPG will be taking part in the Raqqa operation and all armed forces will be withdrawing from the region once ISIL forces are defeated.’
Salih Muslim said: “Raqqa is just under our nose. All the attacks over Syria comes from Raqqa. It is near both Cizre and Kobane.
In order for us to defend ourselves, ISIL must be out of Raqqa. Raqqa is crucially important for us in terms of security... Turkey should not get near this region... Both domestic and foreign policy of AKP will stir things up all across the Middle East; and, this will harm Turkey, in return.”
Muslim also noted that in case Turkey moves towards Manbij as part of it Operation Euphrates Shield, it could be in clashes with SDG (Syrian Democratic Forces).
