School principal in Turkey arbitrarily decides to end coed system at his school

In an announcement released on the official website of Turkey’s Konevi Anadolu High School of Konya – a dominantly conservative city -, it was stated that classrooms will no longer be coed and that boy and girl students will be placed in separate rooms starting on the new academic year of 2017-2018.

The arbitrary decision which had the signature of the school’s principal was posted online as an announcement for the parents.
Although the announcement was later deleted from the main page, the picture shared is still visible under the galleries section.

Main opposition party CHP’s MP from İzmir, Tuncay Özkan, reacted to it from his social media account and called on the Interior Minister İsmet Yılmaz to ‘take on the necessary steps to bring the principal to account.’

Yılmaz also said in his message that ‘while the world is busy with science, our school principles are busy with trying to separate boys and girls.’
