Turkey's AKP avoids answering questions on a photo of its members with Fethullah Gülen

As the final report of the parliamentary committee on coup plot investigation was recently released, it’s also been revealed that the ruling party AKP failed to respond to the question of the committee regarding a photograph of 12 AKP MPs taken with Fetuhllah Gülen, the alleged mastermind behind the coup attempt of July 15 in Turkey.

The photo, which was taken back in 2012, caused great dispute in the country since it showed the close relations of the ruling party AKP and the followers of the Gülen movement, which AKP has been accusing of plotting the coup.

When answering the questions of reporters, opposition party MHP’s (Nationalist Movement Party) MP Mehmet Erdoğan revealed that although an answer was requested from AKP regarding whether the AKP MPs had visited Gülen back 2012 with the knowledge of the party’s executive body or not, Turkey’s ruling party AKP avoided giving an answer to the committee.
