Turkey’s minister for EU affairs: ‘Europe has surrendered to fascism’
Turkey’s minister for EU affairs Ömer Çelik gave statements about the diplomatic crisis that emerged between Holland and Turkey over cancellation of public meetings of Turkey’s ministers in Holland.
Parts of the remarks of Minister Çelik followed as: “Our meetings are peaceful meetings. Practices of Holland have violated all principles. The racist leader has actually come to power in Holland. Practicing of fundamental democratic rights has been blocked by Holland… Europe has surrendered to fascism. Conditions of the WWII are still shaping Europe. And, Europe must raise its voice in the face of neo-fascist practices. While fascism in the past was based on biological dominance, it is based on cultural dominance, today. In the face of what’s been done, we are going to enforce sanctions. Racists are also a threat to democrats of Europe and we are not going to leave our kins (in Europe) to the hands of these racist people.”
