Turkey’s Minister of Environment tells police: ‘God-willing, you shall be martyrs, too’

Turkey’s Minister of Environment and Urbanization Mehmet Özhaseki visited police department in Kayseri province today (December 12), following the deadly bomb attacks of late evening on Saturday that claimed lives of 36 police officers and 8 civilians in Beşiktaş district of İstanbul.

While greeting and talking to the police officers, Minister Özhaseki said: “Each of these organizations has been carrying out all kinds of dishonoring and venemous acts but they must know that we do not get drained away. We do not give up! Each of us is a candidate for martyrdom. If Allah permits, I’d be a martyr; you, too, shall be martyrs, god-willing!”

Özhaseki also said: “… If we continue like this, this nation will rise. Otherwise, they are not going to let us alone here. In order for this flag to fly up in the skies freely and for the azans (Islamic call for prayer) to be sung all the time, there is a price. And, we are paying that price. In the recent years, recent months, and, especially the last days, this terror has been rooted away. They are carrying out these tragic acts because they are being rooted away… Their authority over the land and streets has finished. Their authority in cities is also done with; so is their authority in the mountains. And, with Allah’s permission, their authority beyond the border is also ending. This is why they are frustrated. A terrorist group with 2 people can also carry out bomb attacks.

Now, they want to hurt people and make noise. They want to hurt us and they are doing it! God-willing, this is going to make us more combative. It’s going to make us more upset and give us the chance to be able to wipe them off better.”
