A series of aftershocks shake Turkey’s west coast

Turkey’s west coast was again struck by an earthquake on Saturday (June 17).

The 5.5 magnitude quake emerged from the Aegean Sea, from 12.3 km deep, according to information shared by Kandilli Observatory of Boğaziçi University.

Felt in İzmir and neighbouring provines, today’s eartquake was first of a series of aftershocks that followed the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occured in İzmir earlier last week.

Following the 5.5 earthquake that occured at 22:50 on Saturday evening, 8 aftershocks came between 23:00 and 23:30.
Experts had warned the public about the possible subsuquent eartquakes after the major quake on June 12th.
