Bozdağ: ‘A referendum on presidential system might be held as early as before spring’
Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ commented on the arguments with regards to ‘presidential system’ and said: “If this question is brought to Parliament floor as soon as possible, a referendum will take place quickly, even before the upcoming spring!”
Referring to the latest statements of MHP Chair Bahçeli, where he said ‘MHP would respect any decision with regards to presidential system’, Minister of Justice Bozdağ said: “The way for this is to ask it to the people! It is obvious that the debate about this at the Parliament will not solve this issue; because, with 316 seats, AKP cannot get this by itself. So, Bahçeli should join us on this so that we can reach 330 votes in order to ask the question to the people. If Turkish people say ‘yes’, it (debates) will be over. If they say ‘no’, if will again be over!”
